LG Cookie 3G Review
This is a global GSM phone, it can be used with AT&T's and T-Mobile USA's 2G networks.
The LG T320 is coming to Europe as the LG Cookie 3G, and has the most compelling hardware out of LG’s recently introduced handsets for the younger crowd, mainly due to the addition of a 3G chip. It has a 2.8” resistive touchscreen with 240x320 pixels of resolution, and comes in a few color combinations - Black/Orange, Black/Titan Silver, Black/Pink, Black/Aqua Blue. The candybar phone is small and slim, has a 3MP camera on the back, standard audio jack and a power button on the top, microUSB port and a volume rocker on the right, while the left side is occupied by the microSD slot with protective cover. The LG Cookie 3G accepts cards up to 16GB.

Interface and Features:
The resistive screen is responsive (for a resistive screen, that is),and there are three hardware buttons underneath it – send and end keys,plus a back button in their middle, framed in the color of the backcover. There are four shortcuts on a dock at the bottom of the firsthome screen – for entering the dialer, phonebook, messaging and themenu. There is also a pullout menu, containing nine slots for yourfavorite contacts with pictures, which can be placed on the defaulthomescreen. The second homescreen, accessed by swiping in anydirection, contains shortcuts to the multimedia and social networkingapplications on the LG Cookie 3G by default, or can be populated withup to nine widgets, such as weather, or memo.
The dialer is simple, and contains two tabs – one towards yourphonebook, and one towards the call logs, which includes yourcommunications history, as well as call and data duration counters atthe bottom, a very useful combination. Messages and email don't appearin threaded view, but rather as a list, and there are two types of textinput – portrait number keypad and handwriting recognition, which helpswhen writing Chinese characters. The keyboard supports numerouslanguages and symbols, depending on the region the phone is sold in.The calendar has monthly and daily views, while the alarm allows fornumerous settings, including to add a memo.
The default browser of the LG Cookie 3G has some nice features, likeRSS feeds subscription and text search. If you need something faster,Opera Mini 5 has a shortcut, which downloads and installs it on firstuse. The handset has 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and FM radio, but no GPS chip.
Most basic productivity applications are covered with the LG Cookie 3G,such as a file browser, Google Search app, unit converter, voicerecorder, and even date counter. The feature phone offers a combinedSNS app, covering Facebook, My Space and Twitter. Microsoft Messengeris the chat program of choice, and the three preinstalled Java gametitles are trial versions.
The multimedia software offers all the basic functionalities we’ve cometo expect from feature phones nowadays, and even some more. The camerainterface is easy to use, and offers different shooting modes, scenesand adjustments, and the pictures came out decent for a 2MP shooter.The photos are clear, with accurate colors, but are lacking a bit inthe detail aspect. The 176x144 pixels QCIF videos at 15fps are passablefor watching on the phone's screen only.
The music player supports album sorting by playlists, artists, albumsand even genres. The built-in loudspeaker was of decent volume, but thesound was coming out flat. In the gallery you can edit photos, adddrawings or text easily, which is a very welcome functionality.Entering text in image edit mode calls the landscape keyboard, sincethe gallery itself appears in a landscape mode.
Performance and Conclusion:
The earspeaker is loud, but there is a static hiss in it. The otherparty heard us distinctly, however they said the volume was a tad low.The 900mAh battery is rated for 4 hours of talk time in 3G mode.
The LG Cookie 3G makes for a very decent cheap feature phone, thanks tothe 3G connectivity and the software, which offers a complete set ofmost functions we use on a daily basis. In terms of specs, a very closealternative is the Samsung Corby 3G, although it has a bit smaller,2.6” screen, and a 1.3MP camera.
